Fernando brings over 11 years of experience in handling personal injury cases, specializing in both prelitigation and litigation processes from intake to lien negotiations and ultimate resolution. He has had the privilege of assisting and consulting with some of California's top trial attorneys accredited by American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and regularly recognized as 'Rising Stars' by Super Lawyers. This collaboration has resulted in multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements across a wide range of cases, including slip and falls, dog bites, motor vehicle and trucking accidents, general premise liability, dangerous conditions, and wrongful death cases.
A native of Chicago, Fernando is deeply driven to help Spanish-speaking communities have their voices heard. Growing up in a low-income, predominantly Latin community, he experienced firsthand the limitations and lack of access to legal services available to these communities. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Fernando is passionate about volunteering with at-risk youth and giving back to underprivileged communities.
Throughout his career, Fernando has played a pivotal role in scaling start-up firms with a single-digit number of employees to staffs exceeding 50 in as little as three years. He has personally negotiated multi-million dollar cases, led multiple mediations, and provided strategic litigation consultation to numerous attorneys. His expertise extends to creating and implementing departmental protocols, training case managers and attorneys in negotiation tactics, case management, medical workup, and insurance practices.
Fernando has also been instrumental in sourcing leads for cases and creating effective marketing strategies. This includes Spanish campaigns for lead generation, strategic ad campaigns with Spectrum, out-of-home billboards and bus backs, and social media initiatives. Additionally, he has crafted a variety of templates, from letters of representation and settlement demands to mediation briefs and motions, including appellate briefs, district court and anti-SLAPP motions.
A graduate of the University of California San Diego (UCSD), Fernando earned his bachelor's degree in political science Summa Cum Laude, with a minor in Economics and Law and Society. Currently, he is a second-year law student at Vermont Law and Graduate School with an emphasis on Environmental Law and Toxic Torts. He is also certified with the California Bar Association as a certified law student under the Practical Training of Law Students (PTLS) program, which allows him to engage in litigation practices and participate in hearings and trials under the supervision of a California-barred attorney.
In his free time, Fernando enjoys spending time with his beautiful family of five, which includes his partner, his newly born twin daughters, and his son, Bronx, a blue nose pitbull. Fernando's dedication to the legal profession and his clients' success is evident in every aspect of his work, making him a valuable asset to any legal team.
